STERLING – Zenona V. (Rybicki) Latek, 91, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.
Her husband, Henryk Latek passed away in 1967. She leaves three sons, Henry J., Victor and Constantine Latek all of Sterling; two daughters, Helen Lubrano of York, PA and Sylvia F. Latek of Worcester; three grandchildren, Michael, Marlana and Melinda; seven great-grandchildren.
Zenona was born in Konstantinovka, Russia, the daughter of Geboreue and Francesca Rybicki and immigrated to the United States in 1951. She had lived in Brooklyn, New York and Worcester before moving to Sterling 31 years ago. She was a machine operator at Presmet Corp. in Worcester, retiring in 1972. Previously she worked for Parker Manufacturing and the New England Knitting Company. She was a member of the Sterling Senior Center and was a talented seamstress, loved cooking, canning, gardening and enjoyed going fishing once in awhile.
A graveside service for Mrs. Latek will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 28, at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Sterling Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
