RUTLAND – Luke Y. Gilmore, 19, of Pommogussett Road, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 from injuries suffered in an accident.
He leaves his parents, Matthew S. and Tracy J. (Smith) Gilmore of Rutland; two sisters, Rachel E. Gilmore and Kyna J. Gilmore, both of Rutland; his maternal grandparents, Joan (Tourtellot) Smith of Holden, and Rodney Smith of Florida; his paternal grandmother, Althea (McKenna) Gilmore of Athol; his maternal great-grandmother, Edith (Fletcher) Tourtellot of Holden; several aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends.
Luke was born on September 14, 1988 in Worcester. He was a former resident of Holden and lived in Rutland most of his life. He was a 2007 graduate of Wachusett Regional High School. Luke was currently a student at Mount Wachusett Community College where he made the President's List his first semester, the Dean's List his second semester, and was a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, an international honor society for business. He played softball and guitar and worked part time as a tutor for his fellow students at MWCC. Luke enjoyed reading, sailing, weightlifting, karate, history and learning new things.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Luke will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 7th, in Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, 585 South Main Street, Orange. Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
