Biography
HOLDEN/SYRACUSE, NY – William P. Taylor, 95, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Sterling Village after an illness. He was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Owen T. and Elizabeth L. (Wilz) Taylor and had lived in Syracuse, New York most of his life before moving to Holden in 2007.

His loving wife of 59 years, Jean H. (Hatheway) Taylor, passed away in 2005. He leaves a son, Jeffrey W. Taylor of Syracuse, NY; two daughters, Anne T. Burrows and her husband, Clark of Holden and Joan T. Fitzpatrick and her husband, Edward of Colchester, VT; a sister, Marie Price of Centerville, OH; four grandchildren, Rebecca Burrows and her partner, Michael Szucs, Jeffrey Burrows, Corey Wood and her husband, Neil and Jarett Fitzpatrick and his fiancée Allison Mitchell; six great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Taylor and his brother, Lawrence Taylor.

Bill graduated from Chaminade Julienne High School and enlisted into the armed services in 1941. He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. After serving his country, Bill graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Bill worked for many years in Syracuse as a mortgage banker, retiring in 1988 as president of SBU Realty Credit Corporation. He was a member of the Appraisal Institute, the Tuscarora Golf Club and spent his summers on Otisco Lake.

A private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family at Hillside Cemetery in Oriskany Falls, NY. Please omit flowers. In Mr. Taylor’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Chaminade Julienne High School Scholarship Committee, 505 South Ludlow Street, Dayton, OH 45402. Arrangements are under the care of the in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
