William H. Megarry

SHREWSBURY – William H. Megarry, 102, of 30 Julio Drive, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at home.

His wife, Gladys F. (Follansbee) Megarry, died in May. His first wife of 65 years, Mildred M. (Gaskell) Megarry, died in 1991. He leaves a daughter Eunice M. Cronk of Holden; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three nieces, C. Joyce Megarry of Oakham, Jean Scott of Worcester and Susan Reed of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Two daughters, Jean Hill and Joan Johnson, three brothers, Edward, James and David Megarry, and two sisters, Bertha Russell and Violet Scott, predeceased him. He was born in Fall River, son of David and Jermima (Poole) Megarry, and lived in Holden for many years before moving to Shrewsbury 10 years ago.

Mr. Megarry owned and operated Holden Real Estate for many years before retiring and was a member of the Holden Rotary. He served on the Board of Directors for Worcester Federal Savings. He was a member Chaffin Congregational Church and Lakeview Congregational Church in Worcester. He enjoyed winters in Cape Coral Florida and was a member of the Moose Club. He was a 32 degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Bodies.

The funeral service for Mr. Megarry will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2004, in the Lakeview Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Avenue, Worcester. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeview Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Avenue, Worcester, MA 01604. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
