WEST BOYLSTON - William F. Doyle, 81, of 54 Worcester Street, formerly of Sterling, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 29 years, Jeanne N. (Boyden) Murray Doyle; two sons, William F. Doyle, Jr. of California and Kevin P. Doyle of South Grafton; a daughter, Kathleen A. Parker of Irmo, South Carolina; a step-son, Bruce A. Murray of Sterling; three step-daughters, Joyce E. Alty and Ann E. Murray, both of Sterling, and Barbara M. Sawicki of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two brothers, James Doyle and John Doyle both of Nashua, New Hampshire; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A sister, Mary Riley, predeceased him. He was born in Somerville, the son of William F. and Florence R. (Brown) Doyle. He was a Navy veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific.
Mr. Doyle worked in the automobile repair and maintenance field for several Boston area companies for many years. He also worked for plastics companies in Sterling and Lancaster and then as a custodian for St. Richard’s Church in Sterling. He was a member of St. Richard’s Church in Sterling, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston, and the American Legion Post 189 in Sterling. He enjoyed bowling and square dancing.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Doyle will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2004, in St. Richard’s Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2004, in Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post 189, Building Improvements,P.O. Box 245, Sterling, MA 01564.
