HOLDEN - William R. Bolton, Jr., 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, under the loving care of his family and the staff at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center after an illness. William was born in Cambridge, the son of William R. and Rachel P. (Phelan) Bolton, Sr. and lived 40 years in Holden.
He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Irene L. (Lewis) Bolton; a son, William R. Bolton III and his wife Rita of Lowell; a daughter, Amy B. Polito of Charlton; a brother, Robert A. Bolton and his wife Nancy of Cambridge; and two grandsons, Dan Polito of South Boston and Ben Polito of Charlton.
William graduated from Huntington Preparatory School and Northeastern University in Boston. He served in the US Army during World War II and worked in the banking industry for many years, including Commerce Bank. He was a manager at Educational Consultant Services for over 15 years before retiring in 1992. He loved vacationing with his family at Lake Balch in West Newfield, Maine, traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandsons. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7th, followed by a remembrance service at 7:30 p.m., in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Mass Chapter, 72 East Concord Street, Room C3, Boston, MA 02118.
