HOLDEN – William “Billy” Frank Smith, 51, passed away from complications due to liver and kidney disease at UMass University Campus in Worcester on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Born and raised in Holden, Billy was a son of Gordon Lee Smith, Jr. and Barbara (Stacy) Smith, and lived here his entire life.
Billy attended Wachusett Regional High School and worked 12 years at Walter C. Cranston and Son’s Automotive in West Boylston as the assistant general manager. He later worked for several different local contractors as a heavy equipment operator. Billy worked the last several years at Busy Bee Nursery in Jefferson. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed traveling with his buddies on golfing trips which included Myrtle Beach and Las Vegas. Billy will be remembered for his selfless nature, kind heart and sense of humor.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara (Stacy) Smith of Holden; a brother, Michael P. Smith of Holden; aunts and uncles, including Michael D. Stacy and his wife, Lauren R. of Holden; two nieces, Sarah Smith and Shannon Smith, both of Princeton; a great nephew, Marshall Smith of Princeton; and several cousins. Billy is predeceased by his father, Gordon Lee Smith, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Billy’s family from 3 until 6 pm on Sunday, October 14, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, followed by a funeral service honoring his life at 6 pm. Interment will be held privately at Grove Cemetery in Holden. At Billy’s request, flowers are to be omitted; instead, that you share an act of kindness with those you love.
