HOLDEN – William A. Sheehan, 87, of Glenwood Street, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 10, 2009, after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Marion T. (McDonald) Sawyer Sheehan; three sons, Gerald Sheehan of Northbridge, Chester and David Sheehan both of Millville; a daughter, Cynthia Nichols of North Smithfield, RI; two step-sons, Clifford R. and Francis E. Sawyer both of Worcester; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Woonsocket, RI, son of Thomas and Bertha (Oliver) Sheehan, and lived many years in Millville before moving to Holden 17 years ago.
Bill graduated Woonsocket High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre and was awarded a bronze service star. He was a mechanic for Anchor Motor Freight in Framingham for 28 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. George's Church, Teamsters Local 170 both in Worcester and was a lifetime member of the Uxbridge Rod and Gun Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Granite Street, Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
