PAXTON – George W. Bashaw, Sr., 77, of Paxton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judith M. (Hoyle) Bashaw; five sons, Larry Bashaw and his wife Debbie, Michael Bashaw and his wife Laurie and Glenn Bashaw and his companion Ingrid Hooper, all of Gastonia, NC, Gary Bashaw and his wife Darlene of Clinton and George Bashaw, Jr. of Worcester; two daughters, Judy Kennedy and her husband Rich of Clinton and Joan Akbarieh and her husband Iraj of Shrewsbury; a brother, Robert Bashaw of Leominster; a sister, Irene Burgwinkle of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Donald and Edward Bashaw, predeceased him. He was born in Leominster, the son of George E. and Marion (Robillard) Bashaw and lived many years in Clinton before moving to Paxton 23 years ago.
George was an extruder operator for Madison Cable in Worcester, retiring in 1997. Previously he worked for Astro Wire & Cable in Worcester, Standard Sign and ITT Surprenant, both in Clinton. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing horseshoes and fishing. He loved his home and working in his yard.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 25th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be in High Plains Cemetery in the Oakdale section of West Boylston.
