Warren T. Erickson

RUTLAND – Warren T. Erickson, 86, of 390 Main Street, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006, in UMass Memorial Hospital, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Spencer) Erickson; his son, Warren T. Erickson, Jr. of Ashford, Connecticut; his daughter, Donna E. Tokarz and her husband Peter of Worcester; and two grandchildren, Emily D. Tokarz of Maine and Jeremy W. Erickson of Ashford. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of Thurston C. and Helen (Oster) Erickson, and lived in Worcester before moving to Rutland 57 years ago. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and attended Worcester Junior College.

Mr. Erickson was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was Turn Superintendent at U.S. Steel in Worcester where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1977. Upon retirement, he served as a Corporator and Trustee at Barre Savings Bank in Barre. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland, the Boylston Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Masons in Boylston, the American Legion Post 310 in Rutland, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6907 in West Boylston. He loved music and was an area soloist and sang with a number of groups including the Federated Church of Leicester, Temple Emmanuel, Grotto Chorus, First Congregational Church of Rutland, and the Worcester Men of Song Barber Shop Chorus.

The funeral service for Mr. Erickson will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, 142 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church of Rutland, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543.
