Warren L. Nelson, 84, of Bailey St., died peacefully after a long illness, under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Christopher House, Worcester. Mr. Nelson was born in Worcester, the son of Walter L. and Eva C. (Lawson) Nelson and lived all of his life in Worcester.
Mr. Nelson leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Norma E. (McCann) Nelson of Worcester; a daughter, Jane E. Nelson of Rochester, NH; a son, John W. Nelson and his wife, Cheryl of Worcester; and three grandchildren, Christina K., Michael J. and Matthew J. Nelson.
Mr. Nelson graduated from North High School in Worcester and later graduated Cum Laude from Worcester Jr. College. He served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Nelson worked for the Morgan Construction Co., retiring as an engineer after 18 years of service there. He previously worked for Wyman Gordon Co. as a Contract Coordinator for 26 years. After retirement, Mr. Nelson started Nelson Consulting of Worcester, a company that aided small businesses. He was a member of Christ the King Church in Worcester where he served on the Finance Committee.
Mr. Nelson was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He had many interests and hobbies that he shared with his family, including wordworking, photography, travel and staying current on the latest computer technology.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013, from the funeral home, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Whitinsville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
