Warren C. Hyson

September 22, 1923 — February 28, 2016

HOLDEN - Warren C. Hyson, Sr., 92, of Holden, passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of his family on Monday, February 28, 2016 after an illness. Born in and raised in Worcester, Warren was the son of Clark and Estelle (Hannebury) Hyson and lived most of his life in Holden where he raised his family.
His beloved wife of 35 years and the mother of his children, Doris (O'Leary) Hyson died in 1980. He leaves his two sons, Gerald "Jerry" Hyson and his wife, Karen of Paxton and Dennis Hyson and his wife, Barbara of Holden; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. His loving wife of the last 32 years, Marilyn L. (Gage) Hyson, died on February 10th of this year. He was also predeceased by his brother, Russell Hyson, his son, Warren C. Hyson, Jr., daughter, Wendy Gates, and a grandson, Hans "AJ" Hyson.
Warren was a graduate of North High School in Worcester, the Maritime Radio Academy in Boston and proudly served his country with the Merchant Marines during World War II.  He was owner and operator of Clark E. Hyson & Sons, a local contracting company in Holden.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden and the Boylston Lodge of Masons in West Boylston.  For the last 20 years, he wintered with his wife in Sarasota, Florida.  He enjoyed golf, dancing and skiing.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Warren's family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, in the First Congregational Church of Holden. Burial will be private in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
