RUTLAND – Walter R. Lapoint, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Sterling Village. Born in Meredith, NH, he was the son of the late Earl and Edith (Taft) Lapoint.
Raised in Princeton, Walter graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. He went on to successfully work for over 30 years as a machinist at Wain-Roy Corp. in Hubbardston.
A man of many interests, Walter enjoyed playing golf, baseball, gardening, fishing and bowling among others. He was an active member of the Heritage Bible Church in Princeton where he served in many capacities.
He is survived by and will be lovingly missed by his wife of 56 years, Irene (Hatstat) Lapoint; a son, Russell Lapoint and his wife, Lucille of Templeton; 2 daughters, Jennifer Bronson and her husband, David of Rutland, Pauline Hawkins and her husband, Richard of Holden; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by 2 brothers, Edward and Carl Lapoint.
At this time, there are no services scheduled for Walter. Burial will be held at a later date in the spring.
