S Janet V. (Maynard) Winslow

RUTLAND – Janet V. (Maynard) Winslow, 84, of Muschopauge Road, died surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, August 28, 2010, in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus, Worcester.
She leaves her husband of 62 years, Charles H. Winslow; two daughters, Barbara Brandes and her husband Alan of Rutland and Karen MacDonald and her husband Gary of Conway, New Hampshire; three grandchildren, Alison MacDonald and her husband David Greenberg, Trevor MacDonald and his wife Annica and Amanda Brandes; three great-grandchildren, Abigail and Benjamin Greenberg and Leah MacDonald; a sister-in-law, Ellen Maynard and her daughter Elaine Maynard; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Everett Maynard, died in 1986. She was born in Holden, the daughter of Fred E. and Vivien (Lewis) Maynard, and lived all of her life on Muschopauge Road both in Holden and Rutland.
Mrs. Winslow graduated from Holden High School in 1944 where she was an outstanding athlete and Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing, Keene, New Hampshire in 1948. She was a registered nurse and practiced for several years and was also as a Cadet Nurse during World War II. Mrs. Winslow had a deep sense of faith, and she was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland where she served on numerous committees. She loved caring for animals, gardening and especially spending time with her family.
Mrs. Winslow's family would like extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. David Rosenfield, Dr. Richard Horner, Dr. Paula Bellin, her visiting nurses Mikki and Judy and the staff on the 2nd floor West Wing at the UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus, for all their love and compassion. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Winslow's neighbors and friends who have been so supportive throughout this journey.
A memorial service for Mrs. Winslow will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1st, in the First Congregational Church, 264 Main Street, Rutland. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place at a time to be announced at a later date in Rural Cemetery, Rutland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Rutland, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA, 01543. Memorial arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
