HOLDEN - Muriel V. (Porter) Jasiak, 98, of Holden, died on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Knollwood Nursing Home, Worcester after a short illness. She was born on May 2, 1912 and named after Muriel, a passenger on the Titanic.
She is survived by her son, Charles "Chuck" T. Jasiak, Jr. and his wife Ann-Marie of Boylston; 3 grandchildren, Tammy Allen and her husband Kevin of Boylston, Audra McNamara and her husband Scott of Holden and Jessica Bourque and her husband James of Boylston; 9 great grandchildren, Brooke, Ryan, Shaye, Cullen, Benjamin, Samantha, Kelsey, Jamie and Jeff; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, who died in 1967, and her brother, Arthur and three sisters, Annie, Dorothy and Priscilla. She was born in Holden the daughter of Jacob and Annie Laura (Cameron) Porter who originated from Nova Scotia.
Muriel attended Holden High School. She was one of the first employees of Data General in Westborough, where she worked for many years until she retired. She was a member of the Adams Square Congregational Church & their Women's Fellowship. She loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, and making beautiful Afghans, table cloths and sweaters for all her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved doing puzzles. She was much loved and will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, June 21st, starting at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knollwood Nursing Home, Activities Fund, 87 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606.
