Virginia M. (Santimaw) Jurgiel Meyer

RUTLAND - Virginia M. (Santimaw) Jurgiel Meyer, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Jewish Healthcare after an illness.   Her husband, Dr. Richard E. R. Meyer, passed away in 1995. She leaves her son, Thomas S. Jurgiel of Rutland; her daughter, Christina Howe and her husband, Brian of Rutland; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; her great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Giorgio; two brothers, John and Thomas Santimaw; her sister, Shirley Conley;  and her first husband, Stephen J. Jurgiel. Virginia was born in Worcester, the daughter of Earl W. and Olive H. (Woods) Santimaw and graduated from South High School and David Hale Fanning School of Nursing. She worked many years at Memorial Hospital in Worcester and later managed her husband’s practice before retiring in the mid 80’s. She was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland, was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
