RUTLAND – Virginia R. (Dostoler) Taylor, 87, of 17 Lewis St., passed away at home on Thursday, August 14, 2008, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband with whom she would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this October, Sumner E. Taylor, Jr.; two sons, Bradford S. Taylor and his wife Lisa of Oakham and Gary L. Taylor and his longtime partner Robert Camara of Fitzwilliam, NH; three daughters, Bonnie V. Heebner and her husband David of Lewes, DE, Dianne L. Oakes and her husband Douglas of Shrewsbury and Kathryn T. Wesolowski and her husband Francis of Holden; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A grandson, David P. Taylor, predeceased her.
Virginia was born in Pascoag, Rhode Island, the daughter of Peter E. and Viola R. (Kennen) Dostoler, and lived many years in Oakham and East Dennis before moving to Rutland a year ago. She was a graduate of the first 4-year graduating class of the new Auburn High School and worked at the Cape Trade Winds Gift Shop in South Yarmouth. She was a member of the Persis Putnam Order of the Eastern Star in Rutland and loved music especially playing the organ. Virginia was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and will be missed by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 17th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service for Mrs. Taylor will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 18th, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland, with burial following in Rural Cemetery, Rutland.
