Virginia M. (Mchugh) Woodward

WORCESTER/WEST BOYLSTON – Virginia M. (McHugh) Woodward, 87, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Christopher House in Worcester after an illness. She was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of Francis V. and Gertrude (Grant) McHugh and had lived in West Boylston and South Yarmouth before moving back to Worcester three years ago.
Her loving husband, David E. Woodward, with whom she celebrated 64 years of marriage on May 17, passed away on May 24, 2016. She leaves her son, Richard “Woody” D. Woodward and his wife, Jacqueline of Watauga, TN; her daughter, Melanie A. Larrabee and her husband, William “Skitch” of West Boylston; six grandchildren, Sarah Becker and her husband, Ryan, Molly Payne and her husband, Chris, William Larrabee, Jr. and his wife, Pamela, Matthew Larrabee and his wife, Jessica, Derrick Woodward and Travis Woodward; six great grandchildren, Jonas, Charlie, Cooper, Reagan, William III and Alice; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Bethann and five brothers, Bobby, Billy, Frannie, Jackie and David McHugh.
After graduating from Commerce High School, Virginia was a switchboard operator at Morgan Construction in Worcester. She also worked for many years as a hostess at the Franklin Manor in West Boylston. Virginia loved to spend time at Cape Cod enjoying lighthouses and playing cards.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Thursday, October 6, from 11a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. on in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 14 Beacon Street, Suite 717, Boston, MA 02108.
