STERLING - Virginia E. (Schmidt) Ittner passed away June 3, 2023 at HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital. Daughter of the late William and V. Estelle (Hamilton) Schmidt, she was born in Clinton, MA January 20, 1932. She attended Clinton schools and graduated with high honors from Clinton High School. Virginia worked at many local businesses, including Colonial Press, Iandoli’s Market and Clinton Hospital. She retired from Clinton Hospital in 1994 after enjoying 17 years as Payroll Supervisor.

Married to Charles E. Ittner for 26 years until his death in 1977, together they had three beautiful daughters. Her three daughters were her greatest happiness. Schmidt, her niece Claudia Stuart Anderson, sisters-in-law Gladys Stuart, Inge Lotze, Ruth Steinau, Erika Devereaux and Eleanor Ittner.

Ginny was known by many of her friends as a giver and always willing to help where needed. She held the position of Treasurer to the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #204 Harold N. Keith Post, West Boylston for 25 years and also served as Past President. She was a past member of the Worcester Women’s Club serving as Recording Secretary and on many of their commitees. She also belonged to the Holden Senior Center and the Former Holden Chaffins Women’s Club.

Ginny was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by three beloved daughters, Dotty and husband Ed Waseleski of Southwick, Kathy and husband Bob Bateman of Leominster, and Nancy and husband Paul Horton of Sterling. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Sean Horton, Nikki Mooar, Jennifer LaFleur, Christine (Zelny) and husband Bobby Richard, and Brad Zelny and his Significant Other Lillie Sheldrick. She also leaves behind five great grandchildren: Drew and Benjamin Richard, Jeremy and Miranda LaFleur, Alexis Marie Zelny, and many other nieces and nephews. Nancy, Paul and Sean were always close by her to make sure that Gram had all of her wants and needs tended to by maintaining her well-manicured lawn in the summer months, her driveway free of snow and ice in the winter months, performing minor household repairs and provided yummy meals for her every single day.
