Virginia H. Griffin

Rutland – Virginia H. (Herrick) Griffin, 86, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 16, 2022. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Van Buren and Marjorie H. (Packard) Herrick, and was a lifelong Rutland resident.

Virginia graduated from Rutland High School and went on to work as a Medical Secretary for several local family practices, most recently for Dr. Neil Cannon. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Rutland. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandsons.

Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Robert J. Griffin in 2009. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her sons, Robert J. Griffin, Jr. of Rutland and Lee A. Griffin and his wife, Andrea of Paxton; and her grandsons, Douglas Griffin, Paul Griffin, and Adam Griffin. She was also predeceased by her son, Mark D. Griffin; and her brothers, Van Buren Herrick, Ronald L. Herrick, and Richard J. Herrick.

A funeral service honoring and celebrating Virginia’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022, at First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street, Rutland. Virginia will be laid to rest beside her husband at Rural Cemetery, Main Street, Rutland
