Virginia 'Ginny' Merlin

HOLDEN – Virginia "Ginny" K. (Glode) Merlin, 72, of 735 Mason Road in Jefferson, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 in Overlook Masonic Nursing Home, Charlton, after an illness.
Her husband of 45 years, Lee F. Merlin, Sr., died in 2002. She is survived by two sons, Lee F. Merlin, Jr. and Jeffrey D. Merlin and his wife Christine M. all of Jefferson; a daughter, Cheryl A. Pease of Jefferson; three brothers, Ronald Glode and his wife Lynne of Roswell, GA, Norman Glode and his wife Sharon of Pleasanton, CA and David Glode of Rutland; a sister, Marilyn Wrightson and her husband James of Princeton; a granddaughter, Lindsey L. Merlin of Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Judith Gustafson predeceased her. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Ernest J. and Stacia Glode and lived in Jefferson for many years.
Ginny graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and was a proud member of its History Club and Booster Club. She worked in the Cafeteria at Wachusett High School for many years and previously, was an operator at the local phone company. She was a longtime supporter of the Wachusett Booster Club.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit her family all over the country and yearly visits to Florida. She loved reading romance novels, spending time eating out with her many friends from work and she especially loved taking care of her granddaughter, Lindsey.
Ginny's family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the staff of the Overlook Masonic Nursing Home, especially Jeanne, Kelley, Heather, Leigh, Haley, Kamby, Ann, Renee and Kathleen and the countless others that touched her life in those final days with a tenderness we will never forget.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 25th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral service for Ginny will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26th in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery, Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Overlook Masonic Nursing Home, Attn: Donations, P.O. Box 1000, Charlton, MA 01507.
