NORTH OXFORD – Virginia Mae (Carlisle) Chiuchiolo, 83, of Thayer Pond Drive, North Oxford, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013, under the loving care of her family and the staff at the Life Care Center of Auburn. Born on January 3, 1930 in Worcester, she was the daughter of Clarence W. and Leah (Armstrong) Carlisle. Virginia was a graduate of Commerce High School, worked as a Librarian at a private company and as a machine operator for Amoco Plastics in Shrewsbury for 25 years.
Her husband of 62 years, Joseph V. Chiuchiolo, died in 1999. She leaves behind three sons, Joseph Francis Chiuchiolo of North Oxford, William David Chiuchiolo and his wife Ann Marie of Mendon and Alan Bruce Chiuchiolo and his wife Michele of Marshall, WI; five daughters, Lynn Marie Harris of Venice, CA, Carol Jean Siergie and Adel Ann Willard, both of Worcester, Rosanne Gerbick and her husband Lawrence Gerbick of North Oxford and Marybeth Chiuchiolo of Simi Valley, CA; 17 grandchildren whom she adored, Christopher, Alexandria, Cynthia, Deanna, Victor, Katie and Joseph Patrick Chiuchiolo, Anthony and Emily Catacchio, Jenifer, Jayson and Jeffrey Siergie, Christopher Friend, Allison and Zachary Willard, William Maxey and Bria Mae Smith; 5 great-grandchildren, Victoria and Caylee Chiuchiolo, Colton and Khloe Siergie and Skylar Maxey. Her twin brother, Norman Carlisle and another brother, John Carlisle, predeceased her.
Virginia lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Oxford five years ago. During World War II she was a member of and pilot with the Civil Air Patrol and also a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435 in Worcester. She loved to win at “pitch”. Virginia was very proud of her uncle who was the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury in the late 1800’s.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A private graveside service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
