STERLING – Viola M. (Kennedy) Cutler, 98, of 20 John Dee Road, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004, in UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Her husband of 58 years, Richard H. Cutler, died in 1986. She leaves a son, Robert F. Cutler of Sterling; three daughters, Elizabeth M. Hendrickson of Sterling, Janet E. Chapman of West Boylston and Linda A. Densmore her husband Jon and her daughter Marissa with whom Mrs. Cutler lived; a brother, James Eugene Kennedy of Somerset; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-greatgrandchildren; many nephews and nieces. A daughter, Nancy J. Townsend of West Boylston, a sister, Elsie Goodale, and three brothers, Hibbard, Chester and Ralph Kennedy predeceased her. She was born in Katonah, New York, the daughter of James and S. Elsie (Herget) Kennedy, and lived 77 years in Sterling.
Mrs. Cutler graduated from Fitchburg Normal School and was an elementary school teacher and substitute teacher for many years in Sterling. She was the oldest member and former Sunday school superintendent at the Oakdale United Methodist Church in West Boylston. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading.
The funeral service for Mrs. Cutler will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 10, in the Oakdale United Methodist Church, 15 North Main Street, West Boylston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakdale United Methodist Church, c/o Trustees, 15 North Main Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
