Victor J. Salluce

STERLING – Victor J. Salluce, Sr., 93, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 21, 2014 after an illness. He was born in West Boylston, the son of Joseph and Minnie (Geneva) Salluce and had lived in Sterling for over 70 years.
His beloved wife of 55 years, Imogene “Jean” (Boynton) Salluce, passed away in 2003. He leaves two children, Victor “Joe” J. Salluce, Jr. and his wife, Donna; and Pamela S. Viano and her husband, William, all of Sterling; two sisters, Mary Johnson of Sterling and Rose Oliver and her husband, Dick of West Boylston; a sister-in-law, Irma Salluce of West Boylston; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Meridith, Michael, Matthew, Laura, Jason and Jessica; eleven great-grandchildren, Azhur, Ainsley, Nico, Dimitri, Lindsay, Anthony, Nicholas, Taylor, Paige, Dominik and Marcus; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Carmen “Gootch” Salluce, a sister, Lucy Salluce and a special granddaughter, Karen Corkum.
Victor proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the troop transport USS West Point, AP-23. He worked for the Taylor and Doe Foundry in West Boylston, the Fitchburg Foundry and Norton Company retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post 189 in Sterling and enjoyed trips to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Victor was a wonderful family man who enjoyed his grandchildren and especially loved his great-grandchildren who gave him much joy in his later years. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed always.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the lovely souls of the Jewish Healthcare Center Hospice for their tender loving care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Tues., June 24, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center Hospice, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
