Victor Bradford “Brad” Lawson, age 88, longtime member of the Briarwood Retirement Community in Worcester, passed away April 10, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Holden, Brad lived in both Worcester and Holden; was graduated from Holden High School, then Worcester Junior College where he earned an Associate Degree in Engineering followed by a long career with Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, MA.
He was a dedicated volunteer for several Worcester organizations such as the Worcester Preservation Society for example, working on the Hanover Theatre renovation project and promoting Union Station’s renewal. Brad was past-president and served on the Urban Design Committee for twenty-five years. He really enjoyed the “great outdoors” and was a seasonal camper in New Hampshire for several years.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his longtime dear friend, Marie-Louise Klose of Holden.
In addition to his parents and his former wife, Jane (Anderson) Lawson, Brad is predeceased by his partner of several years, Marjorie Dudley.
A lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden, founded by his own grandfather Axel J. Lawson in order to serve the local Swedish Community at the time, Brad returns to the church for the last time on the 26th of April. Friends may gather on Wednesday, April 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church at 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place after the service in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Holden in continued support of the congregation. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
