WORCESTER – Lawrence V. Grampetro, 90, of Barrows Road, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 in the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary S. (Cammuso) Grampetro; a son, Lawrence Grampetro and his wife Mary Ellen of Worcester; a daughter, Madeline L. Mariotti and her husband Howard of Jefferson; a sister, Gloria Carbone of Holden; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Guido and Alfred Grampetro predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, a son of Dominic and Angela (DeSanctis) Grampetro and lived in Worcester his entire life. He attended Worcester Boys Trade, graduated Commerce High School and attended DeVry Technical Institute, now ITT.
Lawrence was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in European Theatre. He was an electronic technician for 15 years for Holden TV and was an upholsterer at Delux Upholstery in Worcester for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the John E. Harkins American Legion Post 42 in Holden, the civil conservation corps, and was an avid woodworker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 9 to10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 10th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or the Odd Fellows Home Residents Activities Fund, 104 Randolph Road, Worcester, MA 01606.
