Veronica E. (Yankus) Mackenzie

Biography
HOLDEN — Veronica E. (Yankus) MacKenzie, 96, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, after a period of declin- ing health. Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Veronica (Stanulonis) Yankus. She was married for 68 years to the late William G. MacKenzie, Sr. who passed away on June 20, 2013.

Mrs. MacKenzie lived in Holden for more than 60 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden. She was employed for many years in the Holden Public School System and also worked as a waitress for several Worcester based catering services.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy J. (MacK- enzie) Parker and her husband, Richard of Hudson; her son, William G. MacKenzie, Jr. and his wife, Catherine of Houston, TX; four grand daughters, Kristine (Parker) Sherman of Hudson, Alison (MacKenzie) Luce of Austin, TX, Ashley MacKenzie of Port Townsend, WA, and Audrey MacKenzie of Minneapolis, MN; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Julia Howard of Worcester; and she was the sister of the late Leo Yankus, Mary O’Leary, Monica Ustinovich and Vito Yankus.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Committal services will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Christopher House of Worcester Activity Fund, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605 where she recently resided.
