WORCESTER – Vaske Melka, age 82, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He was born in Korca, Albania, the son of the late Niko and Viktori (Jovani) Melka.
Before coming to Worcester in 2006 to be close to his family, Vaske worked as a painter for the Communist state in Albania. While in America, he enjoyed painting, drawing, and spending precious time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church in Worcester.
Vaske will be lovingly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marika (Borshi) Melka; a son, Nikolin Melka and his wife, Anila of Worcester; a daughter, Klara Stefo and her husband, Fredi of Worcester; five grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Arsinoi Leka and Silva Tasho.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Vaske’s memory and pay their respects from 10:15am to 12:00pm on Friday, December 2nd at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St., Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church 01609.
