Tracy M. (Longvall) Rivera

November 2, 1970 — November 3, 2014

HOLDEN-Tracy M. (Longvall) Rivera, 44, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Tracy was born and raised in Worcester. She graduated from Saint Peter Marion High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University and her Masters in Counseling from Assumption College. For the past 20 years, Tracy has worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Youth Services in Westborough and most recently, at the Boston office. She has held several positions while with the department, including working as a counselor, case worker and most recently as director of alternative lockup programs and interstate compact administrator. Tracy found real peace while being near the ocean, whether it was in Newport, visiting Mexico, or spending time with her family at their home in Maine. Tracy also loved to cook and bake, and enjoyed the time she spent sharing her talents with her daughter, Lola. She was truly a loving, caring and devoted person to everyone. Even during her year long fight with brain cancer, Tracy was more concerned about everyone else. She continually tried to give those around her strength and courage to continue on.

Tracy leaves her beloved husband of 10 years, Manuel “Manny” Rivera, her cherished daughter, Lola M., who has been the true joy and meaning in her life for the past 8 years; her mother, Janet M. (Pollier) Longvall of Holden; her sister, Deborah A. Floyd and her husband, Daniel of Holden, and their three children, Asa (her godson), Kiely, and Benjamin Floyd; her three step-children, Manny, Kristal and Isaac Rivera; several nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins; her goddaughters, Magdalena Revas and Jaycie D. She was predeceased by her father, Richard D. Longvall, her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Evelyn “Moo Moo” Longvall; her maternal grandmother, Claire “Meme” Hakkala, and her uncle, David Longvall.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tracy’s family on Thursday, November 6, from 4-8 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, November 7, at 10 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester.
