HOLDEN - Anne T. (O'Brien) Hester, 83, of Greenwood Parkway, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 19, 2009 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 50 years, Joseph P. Hester, died in 2001. She leaves two sons, Patrick J. Hester and his wife Ann of Westborough and Dr. John T. Hester and his wife Mei-ling of Ashland; two daughters, Margaret M. Harrington and her husband Timothy of Sterling and Mary E. Lincoln and her husband Gregg of Holden; 12 grandchildren, Maureen, Colleen, Margaret, Molly, Brigid, Maura, Deirdre, John, Joseph, Kevin, Erin and Connor; and many nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Maurice, Thomas and John O'Brien, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Maurice W. and Helen (Connor) O'Brien, was raised in Millbury and has lived in Holden for 40 years.
Anne was a graduate of Millbury High School and the Worcester Business School. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. She volunteered at Rutland Heights Hospital and was a reading tutor for the Holden Public Schools. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, reading and all things Irish.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Anne will be held on Wednesday, June 24th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Street, Millbury.
