STERLING – Tina Sullivan Higgins, 48, of 7 Princeton Road, a life-long resident of Sterling, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Her faith and fortitude were an inspiration to everyone.
She leaves her husband of 26 years, Paul V. Higgins; her son, Thomas J. Higgins III; a sister, Kathleen Longhi and her husband Alfred and their children Angela and Kelsey of Alvin, TX; a brother, Lawrence Sullivan and his wife Donna of Clinton; her step-mother, Corliss A. (Leighton) McKenna Sullivan of Winchendon; two step-sisters, Christine Orciani and her husband Gary of Sterling and Pamela DiPerio and her husband Ray of Holden; two step-brothers, Mark McKenna and his wife Sandy of Worcester and Kevin McKenna and his wife Jody of Shrewsbury; her extended family, Richard and Maureen Fenno Higgins and their son Richard Higgins, Jr. and girlfriend Francine and her daughter Hannah-Rose O’Brien; Patricia Higgins Blanchflower and her husband John and their children Jack and Maura Blanchflower.
She was born and raised in Sterling, daughter of Lawrence and Angela (Zola) Sullivan. She attended Sterling Elementary schools, graduated Wachusett Regional High School, earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from Lasell College in Newton and worked for the Perkins School in Lancaster. In 1979, she joined her family at their restaurant Landlord Ben’s Colonial Tavern in Sterling. Later she worked at the Fallon Clinic in Worcester and Leominster. She was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church where she volunteered for many years at their Apple Fiesta; she also volunteered at the Sterling Horse Show.
The funeral for Tina will be held on Monday, April 3, from the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, in the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling at the convenience of the family.
