Thomas E. Vaughan

May 21, 1925 — February 17, 2014

WORCESTER – Thomas E. Vaughan, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2014, under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Golden Living Center in Worcester. Born and raised in Worcester, Tom was the son of Lionel and Mary (Healey) Vaughan and lived in Worcester his entire life.

His wife, Margaret (Brosnihan) Vaughan, died in 1987. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Labrecque and her husband, Andre of Holden and Catherine Stafford of Hubbardston; four grandchildren, Nicole Labrecque, Matthew Stafford, Julienne and John Paul Labrecque; and nephews and nieces. Besides his wife, Tom is predeceased by his son, Lee Vaughan who died in 1974 and two sisters, Dorothy St. George and Gladys Pelley.

Tom attended Worcester schools and worked at Heald Machine in Worcester for 34 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. George Church, Greendale Retired Men’s Club and the Nimrod League in Holden. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean Conflict.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21, at St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow with military honors at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homestead Hall, Activities Fund, 10 Homestead Ave., Worcester, MA 01610.
