HOLDEN – Thomas A. Palmer, 73, beloved husband of the late Terry (Gargolinski) Palmer, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester.
Born and raised in Worcester, he was a son of the late Willis and Marguerite (Quigley) Palmer. After graduating from St. Peter’s High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Tom enjoyed a long career as a service splice technician for Verizon, retiring in 2011. He enjoyed golf, hanging around with friends at Bennie’s, long walks around his neighborhood where he would often stop and chat with his walking buddies, reading books, and working a crossword puzzle. Above all else, he loved spending time with his grandkids, bringing them munchkins, playing cards, attending their school or sport events, or doing anything else they were interested in.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his son, Mark Palmer and his wife, Jenna, of Burrillville, RI; his daughters, Christine Bonini and her husband, Paul, of Burlington, CT and Amy Michalowski and her husband, Tom, of Holden; his brothers, Chris Palmer and his partner, Mary Ellen, of Worcester and Pete Palmer and his wife, Sue, of Boylston; his sisters, Mary Antanavica and her husband, Ken, of Leicester, Ann Lyons of Worcester, and Cathy Palmer and her partner, Tim, of San Francisco; his sister-in-law Cathy Gargolinski of Worcester; ten grandchildren, Jake, Andrew, Leah, Ava, Lilly, Claire, Rachel, Allie, Joe, and Matthew; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife of 42 years, Terry, he was predeceased by his sister, Susan Palmer.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s name to the Spina Bifida Association of Greater New England, 219 E Main St., Suite 100B, Milford, MA 01757
