STERLING – Thomas A. Freel, age 78, passed away peacefully at UMass Memorial Health Alliance Hospital - Leominster Campus on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Albert T. and Viola M. (Cameron) Freel.
In the years following graduation from Lancaster High School, Tom met and soon after married the love of his life, Linda Lowd. They moved to Sterling and raised their family, becoming well known residents in town. He worked for over 40 years in the printing department at State Mutual Insurance and part-time at the former Outdoorsman Store in West Boylston for many years.
Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family and his family vacations to Lake Champlain in VT. He was an active member of The Eight Point Sportsmen’s Club in Sterling.
He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Freel of Leominster, Angela Hall and her husband, Todd of Leominster; two sisters, Lois Grindle and her husband, Robert of ME, Marilyn Brady of Westborough; two grandchildren, Thomas and Alex; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tom is predeceased by his loving wife, Linda (Lowd) Freel, who passed in 2000; and his two dogs, Magic and Rocket.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tom’s family from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 28th, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 29th, at the funeral home, followed by a procession to Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton.
