STERLING - Thomas F. Duffy, 77, of 28 Maple Street, died at home on Sunday, May 29, 2005, following a long battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Judith A. (Pace) Duffy; his daughter, Karen A. Casey and her husband Neil P. Casey of Sterling; three grandchildren, Connor A. Casey, Dylan T. Casey and Shannon K. Casey; many nieces and nephews. A sister, Julia Coomey, and two brothers, John and Daniel Duffy, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John E. and Catherine V. (Grady) Duffy. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School and from Worcester State College with a Master’s Degree in Education.
Mr. Duffy worked in the West Boylston School system for 36 years as a teacher and past Principal of the Goodhale School, the Mixter School and the Major Edwards School. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church, the Retired Teacher’s Association of Worcester County and the Retired Educator’s Association of Massachusetts. He received the St. George Award for Catholic Laity. He enjoyed his grandchildren, the Red Sox and Music.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Duffy will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling.
