LEOMINSTER/STERLING – Thomas A. Blair, 76, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after a long struggle with cancer. He was born in Leominster and raised in Keene, NH, the son of Walter E. and Lillian P. (Lamoureux) Blair and had lived in Templeton and Sterling before moving back to Leominster in 2019.
He leaves his loving wife of 36 years, Rose Marie (Arsenault) Blair; his son, Tommy Blair and his wife, Kim of Sterling; his daughter, Kerri Ann Blair and her fiancé, Carlos Melendez of Sterling; his stepson, David Arsenault and his wife, Jennifer of Pelham, NH; his 10 grandchildren; his brother, Peter Blair of Lunenburg; his sister, Anita Delisle of Leominster; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mildred DeBlois, Maryann Corliss, Rosemarie McGrath, Katherine Quinn and Loretta Connors, and his brother, Donald Blair.
After graduating from Leominster High School in 1963, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country aboard the USS Laffey (DD-724). Following his honorable discharge from the service, he attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and started out as a DJ at local radio station WEIM and news professional in California before changing his career. He was a well-known professional hair stylist at several shops and nursing homes in Worcester County for many years before retiring. At one time, he also owned Changes bar in East Templeton, and worked as a real estate professional for several years. Tom was a member of the Franco-American War Veteran, Inc., and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #477, both in Leominster, as well as the Lt. Roger P. Warfield American Legion Post 373 in Baldwinville. In his leisure time, Tom enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24th in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Funeral services for Tom will be held on Thursday, May 25th with a 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Please go directly to church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
