PELL CITY, AL – Therese E. (Dufrense) Hultquist, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 23, 2021, after an illness. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Murray) Dufrense and had lived in Millbury and Shrewsbury until 1956 and then traveled with her husband on military assignments until they retired in 1968 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Her loving husband of 49 years, Harry L. Hultquist, Jr., passed away in 1999. She leaves her daughter, Judi A. Lawrence and her husband, Earl of Pell City, AL with whom she lived: her sons, Steven P. Hultquist and his wife, Deborah of Gainesville, GA and Dr. John W. Hultquist and his wife, Crystal of San Antonio, TX; her granddaughters, Lauren and Emily Hultquist of San Antonio, TX; her brother-in-law, Edwin Hultquist and his wife, Ruthie; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Harry L. Hultquist III.
Therese graduated from Millbury High School in 1945 and Massey Droughn Business College in 1956. She was a bookkeeper for over thirty years at T & S Vending in Montgomery, AL before retiring in 2003. Therese was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She loved music and played the organ at her local church in Alabama for many years. She also was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Therese’s family on Saturday, October 2nd from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main Street, Millbury. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Worcester.
