WORCESTER/SPENCER – Therese Yvonne (Audet) Gaudette, 86, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born and raised in Salem,MA. Therese was the daughter of Alphonse and Adrienne (Cloutier) Audet and lived the last four years of her life at The Willows in Worcester.Therese was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Salem, class of 1949. She attended Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire where she majored in English. While at college, Therese met the love of her life, Roland Gaudette, then a senior at Assumption College and resident of Spencer, at a college dance. They were engaged on Christmas day of 1953 and married the following year on April 24, 1954 at St. Anne’s Church in Salem. After living in the Salem area for several years Roland bought an Optometry practice on Main Street in Spencer with living accommodations for his family. Therese and Roland moved to Spencer in January 1960 where they raised their six children and resided the following 31 years until selling the practice and moving to Miami, Florida in 1991. They later moved to Naples FL and Summerfield FL before moving to The Willows of Worcester in 2014.Therese’s life was centered on her family and faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her life’s work and passion was raising her family and supporting her husband with his Optometry practice. A wonderful caregiver and stay- at- home mom, she was active in her children’s many activities. Therese inspired her children to be the “best version of themselves” and empowered them to be independent and responsible thinkers. Therese loved writing, particularly poetry and prose and was an avid painter. She was a monthly contributor to “The Insider”, a magazine at The Willows of Worcester, and was affectionately coined by the residents as the community’s Poet-Laureate.She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her beloved husband, Dr. Roland E. Gaudette; six children, Jeanne Osborne and her husband, Leonard of Lowell, Denise Murphy and her husband, John of Wellesley, Marc Gaudette and his wife, Alexis of Maidens, Virginia, Peter Gaudette and his wife, Adrienne of California, Monique Johnson and her husband, Russell of California, and Angela Parker and her husband, Allan of Worcester; a brother, Louis Audet of Arizona; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; many nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, Therese is predeceased by three brothers, Alphonse, George and P. Richard Audet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, January 12, at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Relatives and friends are invited to a reception following the Mass in The Great Room at The Willows, 101 Barry Road, Worcester. Interment will take place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
