WEST BOYLSTON/WORCESTER -Theodore J. Raczynski, 91, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2011. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Stanislaus and Anna (Liguz) Raczynski, and lived 55 years in West Boylston before moving to Tatnuck Park in Worcester in 2005.
Theodore “Ted” was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley (Field) Raczynski in 2007. He is survived by two daughters, Janet Raczynski and her husband Edwin Griff of Cincinnati, OH and Diane Phillipo and her husband Steven of Norwich, CT; two sons, Michael Raczynski of Worcester and Dale Raczynski and his wife Donna Blackstone of Hopkinton, MA; six grandchildren, Lisa Romasanta and her husband Vernel and their two children, and Laura Phillipo, Adam Griff and his wife Bobbee Seldin Griff, Julie Griff and her husband Owen Stewart-Robertson, Evan Raczynski and Leah Raczynski. A brother, Walter predeceased him.
Ted graduated from Worcester Trade. He was a World War II Navy veteran of the North African and Sicilian invasions and was later stationed on a tugboat in San Francisco. He earned an A.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Junior College. He worked as a machinist, tool and die maker and engineering technician for many industrial facilities in Central Massachusetts including Rockwood Sprinkler, Wickwire Spencer, Crompton Knowles, RCA, and retired from Rexnord (Lund) in Hudson, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 21, in St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston Street (Rte. 12), Worcester. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Church Street, West Boylston. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
