HOLDEN/AUBURN – Rev. Rayder O. Jacobsen, 86, of Cimarron Lane, Holden, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was born on December 30, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, son of Martin and Lillien (Oveland) Jacobsen.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Margaret A. (Parkinson) Jacobsen; a daughter, Margaret Rae Pileggi and her husband John of Holden; a son, Robert M. Jacobsen and his wife Susan of Holden; two sisters, Margaret Doherty of Rhode Island and Esther Jacobsen of Cape Cod; 6 grandchildren, John and Jason Pileggi, Bobby, Erica, Tommy and Anna Jacobsen; 7 great-grandchildren, Enzo, Julia, Sophia, Juliana, Jackson Reidar, Lily and Olivia Pileggi; and nephews and nieces. A brother, John Reinhardt, and a sister, Ruth Dzirba, predeceased him.
Rev. Jacobsen was a graduate of the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO in 1950. He was a Pastor for many years at Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Everett and the Calvary Bible Church in Pittsfield, and was Superintendent of the Southern New England District of the Assemblies of God from 1974 to 1978. In later years he served as interim pastor of several churches.
He was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II serving aboard the USS Craighead. He lived in Auburn for 25 years before moving to Holden to be closer to his family in 2003.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 28th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 29th, in the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden. Donations may be made to the Grace Bible Church, P.O. Box 567, Sterling, MA 01564 (to be distributed to mission's projects that he supported).
