OAKHAM – Terri E. (Palumbo) Houghton, 52 of Old Turnpike Road in Oakham, died Monday, April 18, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness. She was the husband of Mike A. Houghton to whom she been married to for over 20 years.
Mrs. Houghton was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, the daughter of Nick Palumbo of Ashland and Rosa (Whittum) Palumbo of Yarmouthport. In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by two children, Christopher and DeAnna Houghton, both of Oakham; one brother, Paul Palumbo of Westfield, New Jersey; three sisters, Laura Foley of Plymouth, Cathy DeFuria of Acton and Ellen Wescott of Yarmouthport; and several nieces and nephews.
She grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut, and lived in Framingham until 1985 when she moved to Oakham. Mrs. Houghton was a 1971 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Connecticut, and a 1976 graduate of Anna Marie College in Paxton majoring in Social Work.
Mrs. Houghton was a teacher in the Holden, Rutland and Quabbin school districts for over 10 years, teaching at all levels of education. She loved her children and family deeply.
The funeral service for Mrs. Houghton will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 22, in the Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Terri Houghton Children’s Fund, c/o Sovereign Bank New England, 75 State Street, Boston, MA 02110.
