Terrance Booth

October 3, 1937 — December 24, 2015

STERLING - Terrance B. Booth, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, with his loving family at his bedside. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Carlton and Helen (Power) Booth. Terry was raised in Worcester and graduated from Saint Peter’s High School and the former Worcester Junior College. Prior to his retirement, Terry enjoyed a 35-year career with State Mutual Assurance Company, Worcester where he was the director of computer operations. Following his retirement, he owned and operated the Westborough News Room for several years. He truly enjoyed the relationships he formed there with all of his customers. An accomplished athlete, Terry competed as a speed skater, earning several medals. He later took up the game of golf, playing weekly matches and as well as entering countless tournaments where he won several trophies through the years. Another highlight for Terry was the time everyone spent at their home in Gilford, NH along the shores of Lake Winnipesauke. When not in New Hampshire, he often could be found swimming and lounging by his backyard pool, but spending that special time with his grandchildren and the rest of the family was what brought him his greatest joy. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. Terry spent many hours volunteering at the Sterling Senior Center. He leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia A. (Korp) Booth; his five children, Karen Hookailo and her husband, Michael of Sutton, Kathryn Cote and her husband, Ronald of Sterling, Michael Booth and his wife, Lisa of Lunenburg, James Booth of Leominster and Deborah Carney and her husband, Brian of Holden; his sister, Judith Buckley of Holden, his eight grandchildren, Danielle and Nicole Cote, Daniel and Sarah Hookailo, Derek and Jason Booth and Ryan and Jacob Carney; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff in the intensive care unit of Saint Vincent Hospital for the care and compassion they showed to Terry and the family during his recent hospitalization. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Terry’s family on Tuesday, December 29, from 4-7 p.m. at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 30, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at Saint Richard of Chichester Church, 10 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association, 300 Fifth Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-8750.
