Teresa M. (Hamel) Stefanski

STERLING – Teresa M. (Hamel) Stefanski, 91, died peacefully on June 15, 2013 at Knollwood Nursing Center, Worcester, with her loving family by her side. She was born and raised in Adams, the daughter of Joseph and Irene (LaFortune) Hamel and had lived in Sterling since 1969.
Teresa graduated from Adams Memorial High School. She was a secretary for the Colonial Press Co. in Clinton before retiring in 1986. Previously, she worked for Paul Revere Co. in Worcester. During the many years she lived in Sterling, she not only raised two children, worked full-time, but was active with the Alpha Club at Paul Revere Co., the Sterling Grange, and later the Sterling Senior Center. She was an avid animal lover who often volunteered at the Sterling Animal Shelter. She was a long-time member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling. Teresa loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her beloved husband of 46 years, Matthew F. Stefanski passed away in 1989. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her children, Gerald “Jerry” M. Stefanski and his wife Deborah Carrelli-Stefanski of Sterling and Susan I. Morocco and her husband John of Clarksburg; a brother, Gerald Hamel of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Hamel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
