Biography
WORCESTER - Sylvia M. (Husson) Husson, 84, of Worcester, known by all as “Sitto”, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 in St. Vincent’s Hospital. Born and educated in Worcester, Sylvia was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Armoush) Husson and lived in Worcester her whole life. Her husband George A. Husson died in 1994.
Sylvia is survived by a son; Steven A. and his wife, Tara Husson, of Worcester; a daughter Andrea M. and her husband, Raymond Silva of Shrewsbury; Four sisters, Dolores Samra of West Palm Beach, Florida; Elaine H. Husson of Shrewsbury; Audrey E. Derany of Needham; and Beverly Hanna of Fairhaven, seven granddaughters: Dena Laudon, Samantha Husson, Lauren Cristo, Stephanie Yousef, Elizabeth Silva, and Jenna & Brooke Husson. Three great granddaughters, Bella & Sadie Coghlan, and Lily Yousef. Sylvia is pre-deceased by her daughter, Michele Cristo; her son, Joseph G. Husson; a brother, Michael V. Husson and her sister, Janet Abraham.
Sylvia and her husband, George owned and operated Husson’s Spa on Hamilton Street for 47 years. She was a life-long member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, a member and past president of its Women’s Club, and served on its Parish Council.
Sylvia was especially gifted in her ability to cook Middle Eastern foods, and dedicated her life to preparing foods at the Cathedral for functions and fund raisers. Sylvia will be long remembered for her deep faith, love of life, and family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care provided to Sylvia.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Sylvia’s family on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 4-7 PM and from 10:00-10:45AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. officiated by the Rev. Fr. Milad Selim. Interment will follow next to her husband, George, in Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Sylvia’s memory be made to the Almaza Forzley Fund, c/o St. George Orthodox Cathedral Women’s Club, 30 Anna Street, Worcester 01604.
