WORCESTER - Sylvia (Gilvarg) Davidson, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away Thursday April 6 at the age of 100. Born at home on November 8, 1922, she was the daughter of Max and Dora (Shufrin) Gilvarg, immigrants from Ukraine and Belarus, and sister of the late Eva Narcus and Charles Gilvarg.

She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Davidson for 63 years and mother of Linda Sagor and her husband Mark, Jeffrey Davidson and his wife Janet Cady, and Lainey Rabinow and her husband Elliot Levine. She adored her grandchildren: Joshua Sagor and his wife Tara, Rachel Sagor and her husband Nick Maselli, Ben Rabinow, Lily Rabinow, Will Rabinow, and Daniel Davidson and his wife Abby Colella along with her great grandchildren: Eliana, Isaiah, and Noah Sagor, Max and Sylvia Maselli, and Dorothy Davidson and many loved nieces and nephews.
Sylvia graduated from Classical High School in Worcester in 1940 and went to work at Narcus Brothers stationers. She married Ken, a Coast Guard radarman on the USS Gloucester, in 1943 and began a life full of children and volunteer activity. When her children left for college, she began a new career as an operations manager at a toy factory and started writing her memoir and many poems. She was a vibrant woman who had enormous energy, intellectual curiosity, and a fierce sense of right and wrong grounded in her lifelong commitment to Judaism. She was warm and loving and devoted to her friends and family. She also made the best rhubarb pie in the world.
