WORCESTER - Suzanne (Bayer) Volin, age 91, died peacefully at home in Boca Raton, Florida on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born and raised in New York City, and was a daughter of Saul and Estelle (Cohen) Bayer. After graduating from Hunter College with a degree in Elementary Education, she taught kindergarten before starting her family. After moving to Worcester she was Director of Beth Israel Nursery School for many years. She and her husband, Irwin then spent 40 years traveling yearly to Thailand where they had an importing business. In 1981 they lived in Bangkok for 1 1/2 years where they opened Thailand's first Dunkin Donuts. They had lived in Boca Raton for 30 years.
She leaves her loving husband Irwin with whom she would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this summer. She also leaves her beloved children, Kathy, wife of Robert Pulda of Worcester and Lawrence Volin of Fort Lauderdale, FL; her devoted granddaughters, Dana Pulda, wife of Chris Acone, and Julie Pulda; her great-granddaughter, Ruby Pulda Acone; her brother, Mitchell Bayer and his wife, Beatrice of New York City; her sister-in-law, Claire Volin of Cherry Hill, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Weiss.
She was a beautiful person inside and out who lit up a room with her joyful smile. She will forever be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 4 at Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester, under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden. Burial will be B'Nai Brith Cemetery in Worcester.
Following interment, Memorial Observance will be held at the residence of Robert and Kathy Pulda until 4:00 P.M. on Friday, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 5 and 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. and 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 6, with a Minyan Service at 7:30 P.M. on both Saturday and Sunday.
