HOLDEN - Suzanne "Sue" L. (Palmer) St. George, aged 86, peacefully departed this world with her family at her side on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at UMass Memorial Lake Avenue. A native of Worcester, she was born to John and Hazel (McCollum) Palmer, spending over 50 years of her life in the town of Holden.
Cherished memories of Sue will remain in the hearts of her children and their spouses, Debra S. Grensavitch and husband, Richard of Paxton; Diane Sobol and husband, John of Jefferson; Ralph P. St. George, and his wife, Paula of Paxton; and Johnna A. Carlson and husband, David of Rutland. Survived by her brother, Emmett Palmer and his wife Phyllis of Clearwater, FL, Sue also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Richard, David, Kenneth, Jeffrey, Justin, Kaila, Zachary, Meredith, Matthew, Daniel, and Lindsay, along with sixteen great-grandchildren and one on the way. Close friends Todd Banfill and David Grenier, and her cherished dog, Olivia, also mourn her passing.
Preceded in death by her daughter, Paula S. St. George, brother John A. Palmer, sister Helen Napoli, and granddaughter Alexis Grensavitch, Sue's life journey included over two decades as a dedicated nurse's aide in the emergency room at Holden District Hospital until its closure in 1990. In retirement, no grass grew under Sue's feet, as she worked for her daughters Campbell Kids Daycare for 10 years and later as a Nanny.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Sue's unselfish spirit shone through her passion for crafting knitted items such as mittens, christening gowns, scarves, and hats for the NICU at Memorial Hospital. She found joy in singing, participating in a women's Barbershop Chorus, and lending her voice to the Marlborough Sweet Adelines Chorus. Her genuine love for family, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren remained constant in her heart. Suzanne infused her life with a vibrant sense of humor, often sprinkling her remarks with a touch of sarcasm.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to join Sue's family in a visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Sue's memory may contribute to Second Chance Animal Services Adoption Center, 111 Young Road, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
