STERLING – Suzanne F. (Sullivan) Sontag, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 26, 2015 after a long illness. She was born in Clinton and raised in Bolton, the daughter of Edward R. and Mary F. (Grady) Sullivan.
She leaves her loving husband of 51 years, Philip W. Sontag; three wonderful children, Sharon Sluckis and her husband, John of Tampa, FL, Steven Sontag and his wife, Tami and their children, Cameron and Christopher of Sterling and Heidi McClean and her husband, Gary and their children Casey and Julia of Hopkinton; two sisters, Margaret Tindall of Berlin and Winifred Lucht of Marathon, FL; three brothers, Thomas Sullivan of Millbury, Matthew Sullivan of Alexander, ME and Michael Sullivan of Bolton; nieces, nephews and friends.
Sue attended grammar school in Bolton and graduated from Hudson High School before attending Anna Maria College in Paxton. She was a very devoted member of Redemption Rock Church and was past president of the Wachusett Chapter of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists. Sue and Phil were avid campers and enjoyed many wonderful times camping from Maine to the panhandle of Florida. She loved to tend to her flower gardens, collect Redware pottery from Pennsylvania and enjoyed spending time with her hooking group. In the past, Sue made primitive country crafts and sold them at antique and craft shops. She will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A celebration of life for Suzanne will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Redemption Rock Church, 3 Hager Park Road, Westminster. A private committal service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Redemption Rock Church, P.O. Box 456, Westminster, MA 01473.
