Mr. Sushchyk was a lifelong resident of Sterling, living all of his years on his beloved farm. His parents, Jacob and Katryna, moved to Sterling shortly before his birth on March 21, 1921. He worked most of his life as a dairy farmer. He also ran a road side vegetable stand growing excellent sweet corn. In his later years, he was employed as a custodian for the Sterling Public School System.
He is best remembered as physically very strong but of a gentle nature. He enjoyed people and took a quiet pride in his family and grandchildren. He was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. His passing is deeply mourned by family and friends.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. George Eypper, of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, his staff, and the Sterling Council on Aging staff and van drivers for their diligent care and attention shown to him during his final years.
