OAKHAM- Stuart T. Glendye, 80, of 501 South Road, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, in the Hospice Residence of Worcester after a brief illness.
He leaves a son, Steven T. Glendye and his wife Betty A. of Irving, Texas; three grandchildren Troy, Reid and Thomas Glendye; his long time companion, Caroline Mertzic of Barre. His wife of 52 years, Claire M. (Yvon) Glendye, a son, Cary M. Glendye and a brother, Lloyd (Steve) Glendye, Jr., predeceased him. He was born in Lawrence, the son of Lloyd and Pauline (Burby) Glendye. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Glendye worked as a Lineman for New England Telephone for many years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland, the Telephone Pioneers of America and the American Legion Post 306 in Paxton.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Glendye will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will be in South Cemetery, North Brookfield Road, Oakham. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
